Most home owners in the UK are eligible for a grant of £7,500 from the government as part of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. Outside you need space for the heat pump unit (typically 1m x 1m x 0.5m) and room for good air flow around the heat pump. Yes, a major renovation is the perfect opportunity to install a heat pump. We work alongside builders and architects to coordinate running underground pipework in the early stages of the renovation, and then return towards the end of the renovation to install the new hot water tank and outside unit.

In the vast majority of cases, no planning permission is required. Heat pumps usually fall under "permitted development" rules.

Modern heat pumps are designed to be quiet and unobtrusive. The outdoor unit typically makes a soft humming sound, around 40–60 decibels, which is similar to a fridge. When advising where to place the heat pump, we’ll take this into account to minimise noise for you or your neighbours.
